Yesterday was a big day at KBB- it was my boss’s birthday! Emma has been a great boss in my time here at the new job. Before she came in, we decorated her desk with colored streamers, birthday signs and balloons.
Now, Emma knows all about my cupcake love….I can’t really hide it at work with my cupcake screen saver, cupcake candy jar and the few times I actually have brought in cupcakes to share. I knew I wanted to do something special for her but couldn’t figure out what exactly to do. There are two things I know about Emma, she loves:
a) Starbucks- everyday on her lunch break she goes to Starbucks! She’s one of those people that walk in and workers know her name & order!
b) Dogs- in particular her puppy Vienna-, a Dachshund, of course (get it, Vienna Sausage/Wiener Dog…cute, right?)
When I went home to visit my parents one night, I came across three cupcake books I left on accident. That night I read through them, and there on page 293 were the perfect cupcakes for Emma…..
Wiener Dog Cupcakes!!! The flavor was Chocolate Coffee Cupcakes with Chocolate Frosting. To make the head, ears and tail for the puppy, I mixed chocolate powder with pre-made sugar cookies and used a template to cut them out. One funny thing you should notice about the cookies is the burntness! Yes, I burned the cookies….all smoke alarms went off in the new condo- but it’s good to know they work, right? Even with the black, crispy edges the Wiener Dog Cupcakes came together perfectly!
